Abstract

We live a crucial period of engineering education with the currant civilizational crises enhancing a general awareness of the society about the urgent need to create a more sustainable world. The role of engineers is central to build up a sustainable future. Undoubtedly, the work of engineers is not limited any more to produce and implement new technologies but need to understand and take into consideration the impacts of their innovations on the society. How to prepare this new generation of holistic engineers? What skills and competencies they will need to meet the challenges of SDGs? The purpose of this presentation is to offer an overview of recent outcomes the A-STEP 2030 Erasmus+ project regarding the needed skills and competencies for engineers from the viewpoint of sustainable development, with the aim of preparing the engineers of tomorrow to meet SDGs for a better world.
