The influences of oxidation temperature between 950 and 1050 °C, one-side versus two-side oxidationand chemical variations around the nominal composition of M5Framatome were investigated. Breakaway oxidationis sensitive to the oxidation temperature, the material and the oxidation type. A phenomenological mechanismfor breakaway oxidation is postulated on the basis of microstructural and microchemical analyses. %G English %2 https://hal-ensta-bretagne.archives-ouvertes.fr/hal-02924036/document %2 https://hal-ensta-bretagne.archives-ouvertes.fr/hal-02924036/file/2020_07_24_author_preprint.pdf %L hal-02924036 %U https://hal-ensta-bretagne.archives-ouvertes.fr/hal-02924036 %~ CEA %~ UNIV-BREST %~ ENSTA-BRETAGNE %~ CNRS %~ UNIV-UBS %~ UBS %~ ENIB %~ DSV %~ DEN %~ IRDL %~ EDF %~ CEA-DRF %~ ENSTA-BRETAGNE-MECA %~ TEST-HALCNRS %~ ENSTA-BRETAGNE-PTR5-IRDL
