The representation depends on the Mellin transform, and it can be used to efficiently process the effect of the underwater environment. For sparse environments, we also consider a new approach with reduced computational complexity. The approach is based on a warping lag-Doppler filtering technique in the wideband ambiguity function plane to separate ray paths and estimate their parameters. We validate the signal representation and filtering approach using real experimental data from the BASE07 experiment %G English %Z EDF %2 https://hal.science/hal-00444394/document %2 https://hal.science/hal-00444394/file/Asilomar09_josso.pdf %L hal-00444394 %U https://hal.science/hal-00444394 %~ ENSTA-BRETAGNE %~ UGA %~ CNRS %~ UNIV-GRENOBLE1 %~ UNIV-PMF_GRENOBLE %~ UNIV-GRENOBLE3 %~ INPG %~ GIPSA %~ GIPSA-DIS %~ GIPSA-SIGMAPHY %~ ENSTA-BRETAGNE-STIC %~ ENSIETA-DTN %~ UGA-TEST-BIS %~ UGA-TEST-TER %~ UGA-TEST-QUATER %~ CMM
