Investigation thermomécanique pour le dimensionnement en fatigue des composites tissés 3D

Abstract : Reducing greenhouse gases has turned out to be one of the biggest challenges that the aerospace industry is facing these days. In order to achieve this goal, more and more attention is drawn to composite materials that are replacing metals for the sake of reducing the mass of aircrafts. For this reason, the Safran group explores the possible applications of woven composites which are able to avoid the delamination failure that is often encountered in the use of laminated composites.This study focuses on a three dimensional woven composite with an organic matrix. The approach presented is based on the analysis of the heat build-up phenomenon occurring undercyclic loadings and aims to characterize fatigue properties of the material in a rapid manner. In order for this to be accomplished, the research is divided into two areas. The first objective is to characterize the relation between the thermomechanical signature and the dissipative mechanisms under cyclic loadings on the mesoscopic scale. The second axis seeks to set up a fatigue criterion based on the analysis of self-heating experiments
