Un Cas-Test Discriminant pour la Simulation de la Propagation et du Run-up de Trains de vagues de Type Tsunami

Abstract : A new benchmark for tsunami-type surface wave simulation codes is proposed, combining several phases of the dynamics of a tsunami-type wave train: propagation over a relatively long distance, shoaling on a slope of constant value when approaching a continental shelf, and then run-up on a vertical wall. It was built specifically as part of the TANDEM project. Reference results were obtained by independently using two completely nonlinear potential codes. 11 computational codes were applied to this case, ranging from Saint-Venant (nonlinear shallow water equations) type models to models solving the complete Euler equations, including a variety of Boussinesq or Green-Naghdi models of different orders. The present contribution presents the results of the comparisons concerning the dynamics of the wave train during its propagation and the values of the run-ups on the two vertical walls of the domain, showing significant differences between the codes considered.
